The Philadelphia Eagles were a part of three of this offseason’s biggest deals. Head coach Chip Kelly dealt quarterback Nick Foles and brought in Sam Bradford, traded fan favorite in the backfield LeSean McCoy to the Bills in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso, and signed former Dallas Cowboy Demarco Murray at running back. While some may think Kelly was crazy to pull off these moves, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out this season.

In 2014, the Eagles ended fifth in total offense with Kelly’s high-speed run first spread scheme. This season, the Philly offense will most likely return to that method with Murray handling the majority of the workload and Ryan Mathews along with Darren Sproles splitting the remainder of the carries. At quarterback, Bradford is a bit of a question mark in terms of durability as the talented signal caller has only played a total of seven games in the past two seasons due to injury. He will have to succeed without their former top receiver Jeremy Maclin who vacated to the Chiefs over the offseason, and will be counting on second year wideout Jordan Matthews, Riley Cooper and 2015 draft pick Nelson Agholor to step up and make plays down the field.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles certainly have room for improvement over their 2014 on-field performance. Philadelphia finished the season 28th in overall defense and are banking on Kiko Alonso to be healthy and contribute in 2015. At the corner position, the acquisition of Byron Maxwell is an upgrade as Maxwell was a strong contributor to the Seattle Seahawks for the past few seasons. The Eagles will retain their same defensive front with the trio of Fletcher Cox, Bennie Logan and Cedric Thornton. Cox is one of the top 3-4 lineman in the league and the other two are solid contributors when it comes to run support.

Philadelphia’s schedule has a favorable beginning with five of their first six opponents not part of the post season last year. They do have a tough run towards the end of the season so will need excel and win games early on to increase their 2015 playoff chances. With a clouded NFC East, this year should be an exciting one, so be sure to secure your Philadelphia Eagles tickets in order to catch them in action live all season long.
